Why doesn't the program automatically score my answer as correct or
incorrect?
The
program content is created to realistically simulate actual questions
that a student might be asked on a FAA oral exam. When questions are
asked in an oral examination format, it is common for the question to
require an answer that is more involved than a simple phrase.
Frequently, the answer might require an illustration or a
semi-detailed explanation. Therefore, the program requires that you
score your own answer as correct or incorrect.
Where can I find my Student Record
score files on the computer's hard disk?
The Student Record score files are
created and saved in the subdirectory where the program files are
installed. Unless you changed the destination directory when the
program was installed, the location is: C:\Program Files\Private
Pilot Oral Exam Prep or C:\Program Files\First Solo
Software\PrivatePilotOEP.
Why did my computer restart when Setup
is run to install the program?
Modern versions of Microsoft Windows®
utilize a utility program called Microsoft Windows Installer. This
utility program allows better program installation, maintenance,
self-repair, and subsequent program deletion. If the setup program
detects that Windows Installer is not present on your system, it will
first install Windows Installer, restart the computer, then install
the program. Windows Installer is approximately 2 MB in size. If
Windows Installer is present, the program will install without a
restart.
Can I save my Student Record score file
to a floppy disk and transfer it to another computer so that I can study
in more than one location or on more than one computer?
Windows Explorer® can be used to copy
the Student Record score file to removable media, such as a floppy
disk. The Student Record score files are created and saved in the
subdirectory where the program files are installed. Unless you
changed the destination directory when the program was installed, the
location is: C:\Program Files\Private Pilot Oral Exam Prep or
C:\Program Files\First Solo Software\PrivatePilotOEP. The name of the
file will be the name of the student with a ".stu" file extension
added to the end of the file.
Please refer to the End-User
License Agreement that was presented during program installation
and is also found in the program's Help file.
Why does the program sometimes display
an illustration and other times it does not?
Illustrations are custom designed for
each question. Sometimes illustrations are used to help clarify a
question or as an aid to learning. Therefore, each question might or
might not have an illustration displayed with the question. When the
answer is shown, the same illustration for the question might remain
visible or a new illustration might be shown with the answer.
When does the program randomize the
question order for a Drill Session?
When the Drill Session begins, the
program will randomize the sequence of all the questions selected for
the current Drill Session.
If you have not yet completed a Drill
Session, but would like to re-randomize the sequence of the questions,
click on the "Exit Drill" button. Select the same topic, then click on
the "Start Drill" button.
How do I determine the version of the
program that I have installed?
On the main program window, select the
Help menu. Click on "About" to display a notice of the program
version.
How can I obtain technical support for
the program?
You can contact First Solo Software via an e-mail form on this
website.
What are the system and hardware
requirements for the program?
The programs require Windows® 95/98/Me
or 2000/XP. Additional requirements include: Pentium 133 MHz or
higher (or equivalent microprocessor), a CD-ROM drive, and super VGA
(800 x 600) with 256 colors or better. Up to approximately 50 MB of
hard disk space may be required during the installation process.
Is a CD-ROM required for program
operation?
The program CD-ROM is only required
during installation. The question content, including
illustrations, is copied to the hard disk during installation.
How do I unlock the trial version with
a registration code?
A registration code that will unlock
the trial version may be
purchased online from Kagi. When purchasing the code, you will
need to enter your program's unique serial number. The serial number
may be obtained by clicking on the "About..." item under the "Help"
menu.
To enter the purchased registration
code, click on "Unlock Trial Version..." item under the "Help" menu.
Enter the registration code in the text box, then press the "Enter
Code" command button. If the program determines that the code is
valid, it will unlock the program to a full and complete version.
Why does my registration code no longer
work?
If you need to install the program on
a second computer, the program will generate a different serial number
when it is installed on a different system. You will need to obtain a
second registration code for an additional installation. Registered
users may obtain additional registration codes for no additional
charge by contacting First Solo Software.
Also, if you need to reinstall
the program on the same computer, you may need to obtain a new
registration code if the program's serial number changes with the new
installation. Registered users may obtain additional registration
codes for no additional charge by contacting
First Solo Software.
